Asal Usul Nama Negara Malaysia

MALAYSIA bukanlah istilah dari kosa kata bahasa Melayu. Ia adalah cantuman dua istilah MALAY dan SIA. MALAY adalah dari bahasa Inggeris yang bermakna orang Melayu. Manakala SIA adalah dari bahasa Latin yang bermakna Tanah.

Semasa zaman kolonial, gugusan tanah Melayu ini dikenali sebagai Tanah Melayu. Ia meliputi dari sebahagian kecil selatan Siam hinggalah ke selatan Filipina.Inggeris menukar nama Tanah Melayu kepada Malaya. Mungkin kesukaran orang Inggeris untuk menyebut Melayu. Nama itu kekal semasa Merdeka dan hingga pembentukan Malaysia pada 1963.

Pemilihan nama Malaysia adalah lebih bermotifkan bahawa Tanah Melayu kini (selepas 1963) bukan sahaja dilihat sebagai tanah Orang Melayu tetapi lebih kepada tanah orang yang bersetuju membentuk sebuah negara baru. Ini termasuklah orang Asli, orang Melayu (yang dianggap sebagai sebagai pribumi), orang Cina dan India (pendatang yang diterima sebagai warganegara).

Bagi sesetengah pihak, nama Malaysia dilihat bahawa tanah atau negara ini bukan milik orang Melayu semata-mata. Meskipun sesetengah pihak beria-ia menekankan bahawa tanah atau negara ini adalah milik orang Melayu. Hakikatnya kita sendiri yang perlu memahami dan bertindak.

“Earth” is an environmental awareness song, released three days before Earth Day in 2019, about the dangers that climate change has on our planet and its ecosystems.

During an interview on The Ellen Show, Lil Dicky revealed the track features over 30 artists, with each of them taking on the roles of a different animal. For example, Justin Bieber plays on the role of a baboon, Ariana Grande takes on the role of a zebra, and Ed Sheeran plays a koala bear.

Dave went on to describe the meaning of this song on The Ellen Show by saying:

I mean honestly when I started making this song I didn’t know the details or the facts at hand. But like we have 12 years to change the way we do so many things on earth, or the damage is irreversible. And within our lifetime, well within our lifetime, crazy things are gonna happen. Floods, food shortages, bad air, millions of people relocated… It’s like… very soon.

It was also announced that proceeds from this song and video will be going towards the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which fights to help protect vulnerable wildlife from extinction.

Mental Illness & Depression

Mental illness is still not a common issue in our society. The ignorance about mental health issues that continues to exist among people is perplexing. I know about this issue 5 years ago. First, let me explain what is mental illness and depression. According to psychiatrist, depression can be determine as a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act.

Depression symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can include:

•  Feeling sad or having a bad mood
•  Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed
•  Changes in appetite (weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting)
•  Sleep disorder
•  Loss of energy or increased fatigue
•  Increase in purposeless physical activity or slowed movements and speech
•  Feeling worthless or guilty
•  Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions
•  Thoughts of death or suicide

Depression is one of the mental illness. Its becoming tumor that can affect ourselves if we did not receive a proper treatment. Plus, in our society, it is still a stigma in today's world and because of this, a large number of those who experience depression will not be treated. Some of these people, they know that they are depressed but they are way too scared to get help, or even admit it to themselves out loud. Help and support from people around them is really a great help. 

We cannot blame these people, they only see suicide is the only way out. Don't put all the false on them. Try to understand them; open your eyes to see, ear to listen and mouth to give comfort instead of judging them. Friend's support somehow can help her even we are not a professional psychiatrist or counselor. 

From that event, here I want all of us to alert about this serius issue. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, depression is estimated to be the second most common health problem in the world by the year 2020. It is a creepy fact. Please help your friend if you think they have mental illness. Block all of our negatives perception on mental illness. Depression is not a joke and mental illness is real.

 

Faktor Pembentukan Malaysia

1. Keselamatan

Dari segi keselamatan, Lee Kuan Yew, Ketua Menteri Singapura dan pemimpin Parti Tindakan Rakyat (PETIR) berasa bimbang kerana keselamatan Singapura terancam akibat  perkembangan pengaruh komunis. Lee Kuan Yew berasa bimbang akan pengaruh Barisan Sosialis kerana Barisan Sosialis telah memenangi pilihan kecil di Hong Lim, Singapura  pada bulan April 1961. Lee Kuan Yew berasa bimbang juga kerana kebangkitan pengaruh Barisan Sosialis akan melemahkan PETIR pada masa akan datang. Perkembangan  pengaruh komunis dalam Barisan Sosialis akan menggugat rancangan British untuk memberi kemerdekaan kepada Singapura. Perkembangan politik di Singapura ini juga membimbangkan Tunku Abdul Rahman. Beliau bimbang pengaruh komunis dari Singapura akan merebak ke Persekutuan Tanah Melayu.

2. Ancaman Komunis

Tambahan pula, ancaman komunis juga merupakan faktor pembentukan Malaysia. Lee Kuan Yew telah menggunakan alasan pengaruh komunis di Singapura untuk mendesak British menggabungkan Singapura dengan Persekutuan Tanah Melayu. Beliau  berkeyakinan bahawa Persekutuan Tanah Melayu mempunyai pengalaman dalam membanteras pengaruh Parti Komunis Malaya pada zaman Darurat (1948-1960). Pengaruh komunis juga turut berkembang dan mengancam keadaan politik di Sarawak. Clandestine Communist Organization (CCO) berjuang untuk menjadikan Sarawak sebagai negara komunis. Ancaman komunis ini menyebabkan Tunku Abdul Rahman mengemukakan cadangan pembentukan Malaysia dengan menggabungkan Singapura, Sarawak, Brunei dengan Persekutuan Tanah Melayu. Pembentukan Malaysia akan dapat membentuk pakatan yang kuat untuk membenteras ancaman komunis.

3. Kemerdekaan

Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei dan Singapura masih belum mencapai kemerdekaan daripada  penjajah British. Negeri-negeri jajahan British ini masih belum mampu berkerajaan sendiri. Penyertaan mereka dalam Malaysia akan menjamin kemerdekaan yang lebih awal kerana Malaysia dijangka akan dibentuk dalam tempoh dua tahun. Negeri-negeri tersebut  juga dapat menikmati pembangunan politik, ekonomi dan sosial selaras dengan Persekutuan Tanah Melayu. Jelaslah bahawa, kemerdekaan merupakan faktor  pembentukan Malaysia.

4. Dekolonialisasi British

Dekolonialisasi Bristish merupakan faktor pembentukan Malaysia kerana pembentukan Malaysia adalah selaras dengan hasrat dekolonialisasi terhadap negara-negara kecil yang  belum membangun. Pada tahun 1960, Perhimpunan Agung Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB) telah menimbulkan usul agar tanah-tanah jajahan diberi kemerdekaan.

5. Kestabilan politik

Pembentukan Malaysia diharap dapat memjamin kestabilan politik di rantau Asia Tenggara. British berharap pembentukan Malaysia dapat menghalang penyebaran  pengaruh komunis di Singapura, Brunei, Sabah dan Sarawak. Bristih perlu mewujudkan kestabilan politik serantau untuk memastikan kepentingan mereka terus terkawal terutama  pengkalannya di Singapura.

6. Ekonomi

Ekonomi menjadi faktor pembentukan Malaysia kerana perkembangan ekonomi tidak seimbang dalam negeri-negeri Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei, Singapura dan Persekutuan Tanah Melayu. Ekonomi Sabah dan Sarawak masih mundur berbanding dengan negeri-negeri lain. Pembentukan Malaysia akan mewujudkan kerjasama dalam bidang ekonomi dan akan menguntungkan negeri-negeri yang mundur. Penubuhan Malaysia akan mewujudkan satu pasaran yang lebih luas untuk menggalakkan lagi pelaburan dan perkembangan industri pertanian. Pembentukan Malaysia dapat mewujudkan kerjasama yang memanfaatkan sumber yang sedia ada, misalnya Tanah Melayu kaya dengan biji timah dan getah, Sarawak dan Sabah kaya dengan sumber balak, dan Brunei kaya dengan sumber minyak.

7. Keseimbangan Kaum

Pembentukan Malaysia dapat menyeimbangkan kaum dengan menggabungkan Persekutuan Tanah Melayu dengan Singapura akan menimbulkan masalah ketidakseimbangan kaum di negara kita.Singapura mempunyai bilangan orang cina yang lebih ramai manakala Sabah, Sarawak dan Brunei mempunyai bilangan bumiputera yang lebih ramai. Penyertaan negeri-negeri tersebut dalam Malaysia dapat mengimbangi kaum di kalangan negara anggota. Pembentukan Malaysia juga mewujudkan kesepadatan dan semangat setia kawan di kalangan anggotanya.
